For the Apple Filling:

  • 6 Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored, and sliced

  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar

  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg

  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour

For the Crisp Topping:

  • 1 cup old-fashioned oats

  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, diced


Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.

  • Toss sliced apples with lemon juice, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and flour. Spread evenly in dish.

  • In a separate bowl, combine oats, brown sugar, flour, and salt. Cut in butter until crumbly.

  • Sprinkle mixture over apples.

  • Bake 35–40 minutes, until topping is golden brown and apples are tender.

 

  • Serve warm with ice cream and caramel drizzle.


Notes

Use a mix of tart and sweet apples for the best flavor.

Add chopped pecans or walnuts to the topping for crunch.

To make ahead, assemble and refrigerate unbaked for up to 24 hours.
